Inspire: St. Martin Catholic Elementary School students raise funds for local animal shelter

TERRACE BAY—Helping the animals that some of the staff and students at St. Martin Catholic Elementary School became an effort of love.

Students from their Grade 5 and 6 class and staff at the school had the pleasure of donating $100 to their local Animal Shelter, Furget-Me-Not. The funds came from the class’ Christmas Gift sale while some funds also came from the staff dress-me-down days.

It was not only something that they did because of their generous nature, but it was also a fundraiser they all wanted to do in honour of the late television star and true animal lover in her own right-Betty White, and for a family in need within their community.

A representative from the animal shelter, Diana was very pleased and grateful to all of the students and staff who helped raise this money, and accepted the donation from several of the school’s biggest animal lovers, Mrs. Borutski and Ms. Critch. Not only did this activity help bring the school community together, but it also taught students the importance of looking after others, in this case, a family within their own community.

The Grade 5 and 6 class took time to raise this money for their local animal shelter, and also gave back to their community.

The total amount raised for both of these recipients was $420.00.
