Active COVID case count hits triple digits

THUNDER BAY – The District of Thunder Bay has hit triple digit active COVID-19 cases for the first time since April 9.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Thursday announced 13 new cases, six in Thunder Bay and surrounding areas, six in district communities and one associated with an area First Nation.

The new cases bring the active case count to 100. There were 101 on April 9.

There have been 73 cases announced since Monday.

Seven of the cases are considered close contact. Two are of unknown origin and four are pending. The region’s seven-day, per-100,000 is up to 63.36, the highest it’s been since April 5.
