Collision closes Highway 17 near Marathon

A collision involving a transport truck and an SUV has closed Highway 17 near Marathon, about 300 kilometres east of Thunder Bay.

Police will work to reopen one lane to traffic by around 6 p.m., an Ontario Provincial Police representative said, with full reopening expected later in the evening.

There were no fatalities resulting from the head-on collision, OPP said, but a driver of the SUV who became trapped in the vehile sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The truck was not pulling a trailer when the accident occurred, police said.
