THUNDER BAY – There are nine more people in hospital in the District of Thunder Bay with COVID-19 than were reported on Tuesday.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Wednesday said there are now 25 people in hospital with the virus, up from 16 a day earlier. However, there remained just three people in the intensive care unit, the same amount as reported on Tuesday.
The health unit announced 34 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, but has cautioned that since Jan. 1 testing has been limited to small segments of the population. The province has since opened up testing to larger numbers of people, but the COVID-19 case numbers are likely under-representing the true number of cases in the community.
There are 194 confirmed, active cases in Thunder Bay, 39 fewer than were reported on Tuesday.
There have been 6,320 COVID-19 cases reported and confirmed in the District of Thunder Bay in 2022.
