THUNDER BAY – COVID-19 has claimed another life in the District of Thunder Bay.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Friday announced the 69th death in the region associated with the virus.
The health unit announced 10 new cases, but with 11 more resolved and one previously announced case taken off the books, there remain just 57 active cases in the region.
That’s three fewer than Thursday and the lowest total since Nov. 25.
All 10 cases are considered to reside in Thunder Bay and surrounding area, with six considered close contact, one related to travel outside of Northwestern Ontario – which the health unit is advising residents not to do over the holiday season – and three cases are still pending.
There have been 3,805 COVID-19 cases in the district since the pandemic began, with 3,220 of them occurring in 2021. Of the overall total, 3,679 are considered to be resolved.
