Dog owners reminded to keep four-legged friend on a leash

MARATHON—Keeping our favourite four-legged friend safe is everyone’s priority. In an effort to ensure this, the Town of Marathon reminds residents to keep their dog on a leash.

Not only does this make sense for safety reasons, but it also is a city bylaw requirement.

The bylaw asks that dog owners control their dogs. According to Bylaw 1788, dog owners must “Ensure that the dog is kept on a leash and under control of a competent person when the dog is on any land in the town unless: (a) the land is the premises of the owner of the dog, (b) the land is owned by a person who has given prior consent to the dog being off the leash.”

Failure to do this could lead to a $150 fine.

Let's keep our furry friends safe by keeping them on a leash when we take them for those daily walks.
