THUNDER BAY – Donna Tremble, founder and CEO of Royal Data from Gull Bay First Nation, has been named a semi-finalist of the 2022 Pow Wow Pitch, North America’s premier pitch competition for Indigenous entrepreneurs.

Tremble, who was selected from more than 2,400 applicants, is advancing to the Technology and Innovation Semi-Finals for a chance to win $25,000 to put toward growing her business.

“I applied to Pow Wow Pitch to help market our launch and grow our community,” she said. “Making it to the semi-finals validates what I’m doing and connects me with amazing mentorship, Indigenous entrepreneurs and major brands and companies.”

Tremble recorded a one-minute video pitch on Aug. 8 with a panel of judges to raise funds to launch her data marketplace, Royalty Data, to allow people to control their privacy and sell their anonymous zero-party data for Canadian currency or cryptocurrency.

Royalty Data does not own the data they offer to brands. Instead, Tremble’s team-built software encrypts data from end-to-end allowing for total privacy and control over personal information.

Data cannot be sold or decrypted without someone’s informed consent and a private key.

“Congratulations to Donna on advancing to the Semi-Finals,” said Sunshine Tenasco, Founder of Pow Wow Pitch. “We look forward to spotlighting and sharing her business with the Pow Wow Pitch community and growing together.”

As a semi-finalist, Tremble will now receive expert pitch training and one-to-one mentorship with Industry leaders and she will pitch her business to a panel of Judges on the Semi-Final digital broadcast on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. ET on powwowpitch.org as part of the Technology and Innovation Semi-Finals and, if successful, will win $1,000 and advance to the Finals for a chance to win $25,000.

Until Sept. 19, people can vote for Royalty Data for their favourite semi-finalist for the People’s Choice Award at powwowpitch.org/vote, which will guarantee it a spot in the Grand -Finale.
