SUPERIOR NORTH – Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for parts of the region.
The government weather agency says low temperatures of -32C to -37C with wind chill values near -45 is expected Thursday into Friday morning in Webequie, Sachigo Lake, Bearskin Lake, Big Trout Lake and Kasabonika.
There is also an extreme cold warning in effect for Attawapiskat as extreme cold temperatures near -35 with wind chilld values near -45 are expected Thursday night into early Friday morning.
The extreme cold warning remains in effect for Fort Severn and Peawanuck as extrene cold temperatures will hit -35C to -37C with wind chill values near -45 Thursday night into Friday.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
