HORNEPAYNE — With the October Municipal and Provincial Election happening this fall, the Municipality of Hornepayne wants to help new candidates who are considering placing their name on the municipal ballot.
They recently informed perspective candidates, that they are offering free training sessions. These sessions are set to run approximately two hours in length.
Scheduled for April 26, and beginning at 6 p.m. the sessions will be presented via Zoom. Presentations by the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing will cover topics such as an overview of the responsibilities set out in the legislation for both candidates and third-party advertisers.
Information regarding the roles and responsibilities of members of council will be part of the agenda that day; and will be helpful to those individuals thinking of running for a council seat.
