George O’Neill Public School teacher recipient of class act award

NIPIGON—Superior Greenstone District School Board applauds Ms. Trottier, teacher at George O’Neill Public School, for being awarded the Class Act Award, by the Critical Thinking Consortium.

The Critical Thinking Consortium is a partnership of school districts, schools and other educational organizations that work together to promote critical thinking. Critical thinking is a skill that has been integrated into the Ontario curriculum, and that can be applied across all subjects and disciplines.

The award that Trottier received was established by the Critical Thinking Consortium to recognize individual educators who have demonstrated a commitment to integrating, what the consortium describes as, “An approach that nurtures high quality thinking into their daily teaching practices."

Trottier not only exemplified this expectation, but also supported her colleagues and students as they too adopted this thinking approach.

Superior Greenstone District School Board, describes Trottier, “As always creating challenges to engage her students in thinking deeply and is committed to learning as much as she can to benefit her students.”

“Ms. Trottier participates in learning sessions outside of school hours and is always willing to mentor other teachers and support their learning journey. We are so proud of Ms. Trottier and this huge accomplishment!” stated the board.

Students and staff at George O’Neill Public School sent their congratulations and gratitude to Trottier. “We are so lucky to have you at George O’Neill Public School and we are all very proud of you."

Congratulations to Trottier were expressed by the entire Superior Greenstone District School Board community.
