GERALDTON -- The Geraldton Water Treatment Plant was a primary subject at Monday evening's Greenstone Municipal Council meeting.
Council agreed to spend about $7 million for upgrades in order for the plant to meet the demands of the proposed Greenstone Gold Mine.
Acting mayor Jamie McPherson everyone is enthusiastic to proceed.
“We are very excited,” McPherson said. “That’s why it was brought to council last night for a summer meeting, so we could get the project to start this fall.”
McPherson added starting the project in the fall could mean early next year they can have the project rolling through to completion.
Greenstone Mine officials are looking to develop an open pit gold mine near the intersection of Highway 11 and Highway 584.
