TERRACE BAY—Superior Greenstone District School Board wishes to remind parents and guardians that the deadline for the OurSchool Parent Survey is fast approaching.
With June 17, just a few days away, the board hopes that parents will take the opportunity to complete the survey which will give them a voice in areas such as:
- Parental perspectives on homework
- School supports positive student behavior
- School supports learning effectively
- School environment is safe and inclusive
The board’s perspective regarding the importance of this survey is reflected in their statement to parents. “Effective school planning involves giving the entire school community a chance to be heard. Parents' feedback and perceptions about their child's educational environment can provide valuable insights into a school's learning successes and challenges. We invite parents/guardians/caregivers to complete the survey using the log in information provided by their child's school principal.”
Parents and guardians with questions about the survey are asked to contact their child’s school principal.
The survey is based on Dr. Joyce Epstein's framework for fostering positive relationships between schools and their community and the extensive research highlighting the benefits of parental involvement in their child's learning and their school's governance and activities.
