Some Superior North areas could be dealing with significant rainfall this weekend.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for areas including Nipigon, Marathon, Superior North, Greenstone, White River and Wawa, cautioning that up to 60 millimetres of rainfall is possible.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecasted to develop this afternoon, with higher amounts of rainfall possible for areas that are hit with multiple thunderstorms.
"These thunderstorms will be very slow moving and could produce very localized heavy rainfall if they remain in place over one area," the special weather statement reads. "Rainfall warnings may be issued as thunderstorms develop."
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is also possible, Environment Canada added.
