HORNEPAYNE — With the township announcing their decision to keep proof of full vaccination in the form of a QR code until further notice, the Porcupine Health Unit has added their explanation for proper mask usage by residents.

The Porcupine Health Unit explained that capacity limits have been lifted, wearing a mask when entering any indoor public space is still required.

Health officials want the public to know that by wearing a mask, you are showing others you care and want to help protect them, and to remember that, masks can provide some protection for yourself and others around you.

A concern of the PHU is whether or not the public is using masks properly. They emphasize that in order for masks to work, they must be used properly and used together with physical distancing when possible, washing your hands often and staying home if you have symptoms.

Masks on their own without these other requirements won’t do the job they are truly meant to do, in order to prevent being infected with COVID-19.

The Township in partnership with Porcupine Health Unit strive to continue to prioritize the health and safety of the community as best as possible.
