KAPUSKASING—The Kapuskasing detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is hosting a recruitment session on June 21.

Senior recruitment officer Sgt. Vincent Hick describes the police work in this region as one that needs to take into account the different lifestyle and environment from other parts of Ontario.

Typically, key differences exist between some of the activities that residents engage in, which requires a different type of knowledge and approach.

With an increased need for more OPP constables, Hicks hopes to hire four or five new constables each year.

The hiring session, scheduled in Kapuskasing for June 21, will be divided up into two parts.

The first will focus on a display for with information regarding the provincial police, while the second session will highlight information for anyone who may want to apply for the position of constable.

According to the Kapuskasing detachment of the OPP, there is a huge need for more recruits and believe that for those thinking about a career with the Ontario Provincial Police, that there is no better time to apply.
