OTTAWA -- An empty meeting scheduled gave Nipigon mayor a chance to attend a key session.

The Nipigon delegation at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference in Ottawa didn't have any slated meetings with Minister's on Tuesday, therefore, Mayor Richard Harvey grabbed the chance to attend a session hosted by the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs.

"An excellent session to really recognize the initial regulation being brought in by the previous government back in 2019 was flawed, but the fact that this government took them back, the fire marshal's office took them back and really has looked at making them appropriate," Harvery said.

"I'm really feeling very reassured that what they are looking at is appropriate levels of training for the levels of service offered."

The AMO Conference wraps up on Wednesday.
