Last week in numbers: OPP Superior North calls for service

SUPERIOR NORTH — OPP reported a decrease in reported incidents last week.

In their most recent reporting period of May 12 to 18, OPP in Greenstone, Marathon and Nipigon report a 14 per cent decline in incidents compared to the week of April 21. Police did not release call data for the period between April 28 to May 11 due to staff availability.

Responding to calls in and around Marathon, Nipigon, and Greenstone, officers laid a total of 287 charges combined. The bulk of those were in Marathon with 127 charges under the Highway Traffic Act alone.

The OPP is also reminding the public about its online reporting system, which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

The citizen self-reporting system was rolled out across the province in 2014 to report certain minor incidents and crimes.
