MANITOUWADGE—Participaction Ontario launched a challenge to every Ontario Community in early June.
The challenge known as Community Better Challenge, launched on June 1, and continues until June 30, 2022.
The goal of this challenge was to make the month of June the month to get everyone moving in whatever means they felt was possible; whether it meant walking, running, bike riding, swimming, or playing a favourite outdoor summer sport.
Ultimately, Participaction wanted communities to, “Get moving, connect with others, and help your community get crowned Canada’s most active community.”
To date, the current leader board is out and the Township of Manitouwadge is in 10th place. The township proudly announced, “We are officially in the Top 10 provincially. Can we keep climbing? (Rhetorical question... the answer is Yes)”
The township jokingly suggested that because of their position on the provincial leader board, residents could do the happy dance and log those minutes too.
Manitouwadge is proud to be in 10th place just behind the City of Thunder Bay. They encouraged residents to remember that they could continue to log in the minutes for family members online and that any sport activity that their children are participating in, also count.
