MARATHON -- Town of Marathon took time to recognize their volunteer firefighters who in their view, “drop everything in a moment’s notice to respond to emergencies in their community.”
Firefighters demonstrate commitment to the safety of their community every day. They spend countless hours volunteering over many years, showing selfless dedication and hard work in the industry. Often they take risks, and in some cases they make the ultimate sacrifice, risking their lives to save the life of others.
International Firefighter’s Day is always held the first Sunday of May. It is a time when the world comes together to honour the sacrifices that firefighters make to ensure that their communities are safe.
The Township of Marathon salutes their Marathon Volunteer Fire Department, and thanks them for their selfless contributions to community safety.
