NIPIGON—It's that time of year to start thinking about your garden. Deciding what to plant, planting techniques and the layout of the garden is often discussed among friends and family who also have that “green thumb."

Residents looking for new information about gardening and garden amenities, can enjoy Nipigon’s “Seedy Saturday” Community Garden Event, coming up on March 26, 2022.

Nipigon's Community Garden Planning 2022 committee is having their meeting about the community garden at the Nipigon Legion main hall 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., on March 26, 2022. Anyone interested in learning about gardening, and food security are welcome to come by. It is also an opportunity for Nipigon's Horticultural Society to ask for volunteers and help.

There will be a presentation on SEED STARTING and using grow bags as well. As part of this event, the Nipigon Horticultural Society will be looking for volunteers to provide their input, and rough-cut lumber for garden boxes.  A local saw mill-operator, is also someone that they will need this year.

The Horticultural Society, stated that they are “looking forward to adding garden boxes, trellising butterfly/bee plants and other garden amenities to the site”.

Visit them on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/niprockhort/  Those interested can also sign up for their mailing list at: https://niprockhort.ca

This event will is aimed at providing residents, volunteers and the Nipigon Horticultural Society an opportunity to support and plan their community garden together.
