Nipigon households given spring clean up guidelines

Yard waste collection begins in Nipigon. (Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.com).

NIPIGON — For two weeks each spring, the Township of Nipigon allows households to put their spring clean-up waste out for curbside pickup.

Spring clean-up will run until May 24, 2022, during which time residents are asked to ensure that they bundle branches/brush so that they can be picked up easily. Households should place all spring clean-up waste on the curb, not in the lane way.

The township offered specific guidelines for this program, emphasizing that hazardous waste, construction materials, furniture and appliances will not be accepted.

A few of the collection guidelines included:

  • Weight Limit: 50 pounds/bag or 75 pounds/container
  • All bags must be out by 7 a.m. on collection day
  • Large items must be taken to the Nipigon Landfill Site.
