WHITE RIVER—Northern Neighbours Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic is asking the public to think about that special nurse practitioner who made a difference in their lives, or the life of a friend, or family member.
The local nurse practitioner clinic makes it possible for residents in need of health care and health care advice to see a nurse practitioner without having to drive for miles to see a doctor.
Carolyn Burton, clinic administrator for the White River clinic describes how this clinic is so vital for so many in the small community of White River. “Often times, residents have to travel an hour on the highway to see a doctor. The clinic is great for smaller communities,” stated Burton.
In terms of nomination choices for this award and for White River, Burton shared how the Northern Neighbours Nurse Practitioner-Led clinic, “is the main practitioner clinic for the community.” The clinic only has two nurse practitioners.
A 17-year veteran nurse practitioner is Arlene McCorry, who Burton describes as one who the community adores. “I am hoping that people take the time to nominate her,” said Burton. The second nurse practitioner, Mandy Larouche, has only been in her role for a few months, and also helps offer needed health care advice.
The Patient Choice Award initiative is sponsored by the Ontario Nurse Practitioner’s Association, of which the White River clinic is one of 25 clinics in the province.
Residents willing to submit a nomination is required to add a short anecdote describing how the nurse practitioner made that difference. Their approach to patient care, their professionalism, and a specific story that reflects their dedication and caring nature, needs also needs to be included.
The one-page description should only be 250 words in length and accompany their nomination.
Burton hopes that, “some of our local people would take the time to nominate a lead.” She added that the deadline for nominations is June 17.
Let’s hope that the community takes the time to submit a nomination so that the hard work and dedication demonstrated by the nurse practitioners at Northern Neighbours Practitioner-Led Clinic is recognized with this award.
Nominations can be submitted in several ways; either by contacting: nurse practitioners association of ontario; or by visiting northern neighbours nurse practitioners led clinic ; or by calling 437-980-4566.
