TORONTO—With the newly re-elected Conservative government, the Ontario Dental Association is calling on Premier Ford to do more for Ontarians in need of dental care.

Ontario Dentists are asking for “Fully funded province dental programs, which dentists have been subsidizing by as much as $150 million every year.

Dentists across the province have indicated that they continue to see first-hand how poorly underfunded dental care is for Ontarians. Dr. Bentley says, “We represent over 10,000 dentists so it only makes sense we’re part of the discussion. The Ontario Dental Association can give the invaluable insight needed to make sure taxpayer money will be used wisely and this massive funding gap will finally be fixed.”

Just before the election the Ontario Dental Association invited the government to join them during negotiations with the province and the federal government regarding how the $5.3 billion federal dental care funding will be used across Ontario. The Ontario government offered to meet with the Ontario Dental Association but apparently a date still has to be set.

According to the Ontario Dental Association, they are, “Asking for the province to make an immediate commitment to children from low-income families and to adults and seniors on low incomes, people with disabilities, and those with complex medical conditions.”
