ARMSTRONG, Ont.— Ontario Provincial Police officers came to the aid of an air ambulance crew in an incident at Armstrong this week.

According to the OPP, an Ornge medivac aircraft had flown to the community to pick up a patient for transfer to Thunder Bay.

The crew encountered some adversity, however, as the runway lights failed, preventing the plane from taking off on Sunday night.

That's when police came to the rescue.

They set up flares along the runway to provide temporary lighting which allowed the aircraft to depart safely.
