OPP scores big in drug trafficking bust

Three people were arrested by OPP during a search warrant where officers seized a quantity of suspected oxycodone, a pickup truck and approximately $200,000 in Canadian currency.

HEARST –— OPP Northwest Region executed two search warrants at two residences in Hearst, on West Street and Edward Street, in the afternoon of August 6.

James Bay OPP investigated, which led to three people being arrested: a 69-year-old, a 70-year-old, and a 57-year-old from Hearst.

Police seized 212 tablets of suspected oxycodone, packaging, a cell phone, a 2020 Ford F150 (as offence-related property), and approximately $200,000 in Canadian currency. 

As a result, the 69-year-old from Hearst was charged with drug trafficking, possession of currency obtained by crime, and failure to comply with a release order.

The 70-year-old and 57-year-old were charged with drug trafficking.

The 69-year-old remains in custody with a court date in August, while the 70-year-old and 57-year-old were released and will appear in court in Sept.
