Hearst—Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) knows how busy a time it is for families when preparing children for back to school.
In an effort to help keep children, students, teachers, school staff, and families safe and to minimize contracting COVID-19, PHU offesr several important things to consider.
Before going to school, or child care, PHU asks that student, teachers, school staff and visitors should self-screen for symptoms of COVID-19.
Doing this just requires that you use the COVID-19 school and child care screening tool found at: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/) to assess your child or yourself for symptoms.
PHU indicates that the results will tell you, "if you should go to school or stay home."
In addition, and according to Ontario government’s health and safety measures for private and public schools, families and school staff should be aware that for the 2022-23 school year, schools in the province will still be providing optional three-ply cloth masks for students and non-fit-tested N95 masks for school staff.
Also, schools will continue to encourage students on appropriate health care hygiene and respiratory etiquette. For example, schools will be encouraged to schedule breaks for students to wash hands and to have hand sanitizers available at key locations throughout the school.
