GREENSTONE — Police officers are trained to offer their assistance in a broad range of situations, but most are unlikely to confront the kind of incident that developed in Greenstone on Friday.

Members of the local detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service were called out to round up a runway pig.

The officers used their ingenuity to lead the animal back to its pen.

According to an OPP Facebook post, they were able to pick up some feed and an old hamburger bun from the owner's neighbour and use the food to entice it along the road.

Traffic was blocked on the highway while the manoeuvre was underway.

The hog was safely reunited with its roommates, a pot-bellied pig and a couple of chickens.
