HORNEPAYNE—The recent swimming advisory for Porcupine Lake had now been lifted by the PHU.
This is due to satisfactory water results.
A swimming advisory is issued when water sample results show unacceptable levels of E. coli bacteria.
Swimming in water where bacteria levels are higher than the recommended limit can increase the risk of infections. Consequently, PHU conducts regular water testing to monitor the conditions and water quality of lakes and beaches.
PHU asks that residents be aware of signage often places at lakes and beaches that indicate whether or not the water is safe for swimming.
