MARATHON — Due to a staffing shortage, the Marathon Family Health Team had to shift to alternative methods of delivering services through its rapid access addiction medicine clinic.
Currently, the clinic is not able to accept walk-in patients; however, they can still access the clinic via appointment.
“As of Jan. 16, we had to suspend the drop-in services of the RAAM Clinic, but the RAAM Clinic and associated programs are still being offered," said Marathon Family Health Team COO Michelle Lajeunesse
Lajeunesse said that people can still contact the Marathon Family Health Team and they will continue to facilitate their enrolment in the program.
“They would come here and complete a consent form and then we would work on referring them to appropriate services,” said Lajeunesse.
The Marathon Family Health Team works in partnership with North of Superior Counselling Programs and People Advocating for Change through Empowerment to deliver addiction counselling and harm reduction services.
“Being able to provide that addiction support is still very important for our organization, and we remind committed to offering that addiction support to members of our community,” said Lajenunesse.
Lajeunesse said their application process for finding a new addiction program care coordinator is now closed and they are in the process of finding a person for the position.
“We hoped that the suspension of the drop-in service was up to 90 days, which was our initial goal. If everything goes well with the hiring and on-boarding process, we are confident we can meet that goal,” Lajeunesse said.
