Red Rock's new wastewater facility's grand opening postponed.

REDROCK – Red Rock's new secondary wastewater treatment facility was supposed to have its official grand opening on Monday, unfortunately, the event was postponed.

“So, unfortunately, we had to postpone the grand opening of the wastewater treatment plant,” said Mayor Darquise Robinson. “We are waiting for the Ministers to provide us with some new data.”

The New facility which replaces, Red Rock’s 43-year-old treatment facility, brings Red Rock into compliance with legislation and lessens the impact of wastewater released into Lake Superior with a total cost of roughly $25 million with $17 million contributed by the province and $8 million contributed by the federal government.

Unfortunately, the various ministers invited to attend the event and cut the ribbon had to postpone.

Work is still being done on the facility but municipal officials say it is operational and the grand opening will likely take place in late October or early November.
