SCHREIBER — Schreiber firefighters were called to an overnight fire on Alberta Street.
Schreiber Fire Department officials said the call came in just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday, with crews from the Centennial Fire Station responding to the duplex.
Fire officials said two teenage residents were home alone, when they noticed the fire, called 911, and were able to exit the building.
Four pumpers holding 18 firefighters arrived on scene and the fire was contained to a single bedroom, but the rest of the unit sustained heavy smoke and water damage.
Fire officials reported that the cause of the fire was clothing left up against a baseboard heater, and also made note that no smoke detectors were present in the home.
