Science North is bringing home grown talent, tourism and recreation to Terrace Bay

Science North did an extremely popular maple taffee demonstration during the city's SnowDay activities at Prince Arthur's Landing on Monday, February 19, 2018.

TERRACE BAY -- Science North is highlighting culture, art, culinary talent, community heritage and recreation in Terrace Bay next week.

Science North will be presenting the Great Northern Ontario Roadshow in Terrace Bay on Saturday, Dec. 11 from noon until 4:p.m.

When speaking to Science North and their organizer Sabrina, she indicated that the key purpose of these shows are to promote home grown talent and tourism and stressed, “we want all locals to come out as well as to draw people from the surrounding areas” as they highlight culture, art, culinary talent, community heritage and recreation and all the great activities that exist across the North.

Science North organizes and runs these events from Prairie Sound North to the Manitoba Border, with having had four shows already. Terrace Bay will be show number five with 20 artisans and vendors.

Science North strives to tailor these shows to the community based on what they want to see and also what COVID restrictions will allow.

Sabrina stressed that Science North will feature activities for all ages, from toddlers, teenagers, to adults at this show in Terrace Bay.

They will feature two shows during the day with hands on activities for all that will be easy to do and keep clean. She reminds everyone hoping to take in this event that proof of vaccine will be required for those 12 and up, with masks to be worn as well.

She also indicated that the next event will be in Nipigon on Dec. 18 with approximately 10 artisans and vendors and the Science North shows. Nipigon’s event will also feature a Santa skate as well.

Sounds like two great events to put on your schedule and to make a point of taking part in.
