Skills Trade and Technology information session to focus on young women

MARATHON — An information session is providing young woman with the opportunity to learn more about Skilled Trade and Technology.

On Feb. 22, Superior Greenstone District School Board will be offering a Skilled Trade and Technology information session by Skills Ontario Canada Young Women for Grades 7 to 10, and their parents and guardians.

Throughout the event, students and parents/guardians will have the opportunity to learn about the options that are available to youth starting in high school with Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program.

Information about what programs are available in college within the industrial sector and what partnerships exist between local high schools, colleges and employers, will also be discussed.

In addition, participants will engage in thought-provoking conversations that challenge the stigmas behind careers in skilled trades and technologies.

The event will run Feb. 22, 2022 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. EST, with interested participants asked to register by Feb. 21, 2022.

While this event is geared towards young women in Grades 7-10 and their parents and guardians, all are welcome.
