TERRACE BAY--Superior North Catholic District School Board is pleased to welcome Ashley Muir to her new role as Indigenous education lead effective September 2022.
In a media release, SNCDSB described Muir’s background and her vision. According to the board, Muir is a member of the Red Rock Indian Band and has held Indigenous Education as a key passion. She was raised in Red Rock and moved back there once she graduated from Lakehead University, with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degree. She also graduated from the Indigenous Education Program at Queen’s University.
“Since 2012 Ashley began teaching the Ojibwe language with SNCDSB allowing many opportunities to collaborate with community and community partners,” stated the Board. Ashley is a strong advocate for the preservation and restoration of the Ojibwe language and culture is extremely passionate about ensuring that traditional and community values are instilled in all our children and youth,” added SNCDSB.
Muir takes on her new role with SNCDSB as of the start of the new school year, September 2022.
