TERRACE BAY—April 13 is International Day of Pink, and to help raise awareness, Superior Greenstone District School Board, has its students, staff and school community wearing pink on Wednesday
In celebrating International Day of Pink, SGDSB is affirming that this day represents change, and celebrates diversity, as their school community stands together in solidarity. This day is set up as an International Day to fight against bullying, discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, and transmisogyny across the world.
On this day, SGDSB is inviting everyone to celebrate what International Day of Pink symbolizes by wearing pink.
While progress has been made towards removing social barriers caused by bullying, homophobia and discrimination based on race, age, disabilities, gender or sexuality, these barriers still exist in our world today.
Every year on the second Wednesday of April, people across the world are encouraged to put on a pink shirt and stand together in order to continue to fight for equality and acceptance. Together SGDSB wants to inspire its students to succeed and make a difference as they all proudly celebrate International Day of Pink.
The board shared with their school community powerful words once spoken by Mohatma Gandhi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”; while they stood together as a school community for this important day.
