Suspended driver charged with impaired

NIPIGON – According to the OPP Northwest Region, officers with the Nipigon Detachment performed a traffic stop which resulted in a 55-year-old individual from Dorion being arrested and charged with impaired operation and driving while under suspension.

On the afternoon of April 23, officers were on general patrol in the area of Greenmantle Drive. After conducting a traffic stop, police found the driver was suspended. 

Additionally, the officer performed a roadside standard field sobriety test that the driver failed.

The driver received a 90-day administrative drivers licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on May 14 to answer to the above charges.
