RED ROCK—The Town of Red Rock received some disappointing news regarding their arena.

According to a recent interview with Red Rock Mayor Darquise Robinson and Al Cresswell from CFNO, it was decided that due to the cost of repairs, only natural ice will be in the arena this winter.

In addition, it was noted that, the ice will not be ready as originally scheduled for the first week of November.

“It is not great news in regards to the arena ice plant. Simcoe came in to do their yearly maintenance on it and notices a lot of deterioration in the ammonia lines. So, as it stands now cost of these repairs is $85,000-$90,000.

As a result, Robinson says therefore there will be no ice installation during the first week of November.  “The CAO has made the hard decision to just go with natural ice for this year,” explained Robinson.
