SCHREIBER—Tammy Ibey, Director of Operations for the Township of Schreiber, announced that during the week of Aug.15-Aug. 26, 2022, they will be conducting "Uni-directional flushing". (UDF)

UDF according to her notice, is a type of flushing that cleans the water mains by flushing sequences of water from one fire hydrant to another.

As a result, residents need to be aware that high velocities of water will scour the water mains and remove mineral deposits, biofilm and sediment that accumulates in the water mains.

The notice added that, “In most cases, residents will not notice any changes to their water delivery during the UDF process. You may notice a slight discolouration in water.”

Should this occur, they suggest that you run your faucets for a short time after the flushing program has been completed, until water is clear.

The township wishes residents to know that discoloured water does not pose any health hazards. However, should the water not clear up after 10 minutes, residents are to contact Tammy Ibey, director of operations at 807-824-2711 ext.230.
