Water restriction in effect in Schreiber

SCHRIEBER — The Township of Schreiber is asking residents to reduce their water consumption until further notice.

The township announced the water restriction in a release on Tuesday and is asking residents for their help and cooperation as the weather remains hot and the work continues on the Ontario Street water main.

Water reserves in the Schreiber are very low and the town said that the water treatment facility cannot keep up with the current demand by residents and that regular maintenance on the water distribution system requires a volume of water to complete.

In order to help residents reduce water consumption, the township suggests that residents eliminate lawn watering or reduce it to only 15 minutes of watering every other day, and eliminate vehicle washing.
