Are you the go-to person for design magic — with a passion for storytelling using digital content? Do you love collaborating with passionate teams and want to design unique digital assets leveraging the latest in behaviour change marketing? If so, this opportunity might be for you.
We are looking for a creative and collaborative designer to bring public health messages to life through engaging visual content. In this role, you will work closely with the communications team and staff across the organization to develop accessible, culturally appropriate materials for digital and print platforms — including social media, websites, reports, and presentations — all in line with brand and accessibility standards (AODA).
As part of your work, you will:
Graphic Design
• Design clear, accessible, and engaging visual content for a range of platforms including social media, websites, presentations, and print.
• Ensure all designs follow public health standards, branding guidelines, and AODA accessibility standards.
• Collaborate with staff to translate complex health information into easy-to-understand visuals .
• Develop and maintain branded templates, toolkits, and other design assets.
• Organize and manage digital asset libraries including photography, icons, videos, and brand elements.
• Prepare files for both digital and print production with attention to detail and quality.
• Stay current on the latest design techniques and platforms following and trends that support inclusive, effective public communication.
Digital Production & Web Design
• Create and manage digital assets that align with public health goals and organizational voice.
• Produce accessible graphics for digital campaigns, presentations, and print materials.
• Support the production of short videos for use in internal communications and social media.
• Work collaboratively with staff to update and maintain website content, ensuring accuracy and usability.
Qualifications, Experience, and Public Health Nurse Skills for this position include but are not limited to:
• A degree or diploma in graphic design, communications, marketing, or a related field - equivalent experience will be considered.
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
• Membership in the Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario (RGD) is an asset.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to explain visual and communications processes to non-designers.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines on multiple projects.
• Collaborative mindset and experience working with diverse teams and communities.
• Commitment to equity, accessibility, and public health values.
• Knowledge of content management systems (e.g., Umbraco) or web accessibility tools (SiteImprove) is an asset.
• Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must be reliable and have a good attendance record.
• Advanced oral and written proficiency in English is essential, proficiency in both official languages considered an asset.
• Ability to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and evenings, as required.
• Requires a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence and use of a reliable vehicle.
• As a condition of hire, you are required to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine series, per our COVID-19 Immunization policy, unless medically contraindicated. Should you be the successful candidate, you will be required to comply with our COVID-19 Immunization policy that is in effect.
• A current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with satisfactory clearance is a condition of employment, at own expense.
