14 COVID-19 patients are now in intensive care in Thunder Bay

New COVID cases so far in 2022 are already within 500 of the total for all of 2021.

THUNDER BAY — The number of patients with COVID-19 receiving treatment in intensive care has increased since Monday.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported Wednesday morning that there are 14 patients in the ICU at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, compared with 10 in its previous update.

Fifty-one people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, two more than on Monday.

There are 167 new lab-confirmed cases throughout the district, compared with 146 on Monday.

This brings the current active case count to 310 compared with 283 two days ago.

According to TBDHU data, the number of new cases in the first six weeks of 2022 is already within 500 of the new cases reported in all of 2021.
