Provincial police say a 77-year-old from Winnipeg was the victim of a fatal highway crash east of Thunder Bay.
Police said the two-vehicle incident happened on Highway 11/17 at the Wolf River Bridge in Dorion around 10 a.m. Wednesday. The driver of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Thursday, a police spokesperson confirmed the individual's age and place of residence, but said the name would not be released out of respect for the family.
A second occupant of that vehicle remains in hospital Thursday with life threatening injuries.
The two occupants of the other vehicle sustained injuries that are not considered life threatening.
The highway had been closed for an extended period of time on Wednesday, but has since reopened.
