NORTHWEST REGION—Aviation Forest Fire and Emergency Services reports that no new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by the late afternoon on July 20.
At the time of their update, AFFES reported there were two active fires in the Northwest Region:
- Sioux Lookout 2 is located near Sakwaso Lake, approximately 45 kilometres. west/northwest of the remote community of Weagamow. The 1.5 hectare is being observed.
- Nipigon 9 is located approximately 54 km. north of Greenstone, near Onaman Lake. The 2.5 hectare fire is being held.
A total of five wild land fires have been called out over the past 24 hours in the Northwest Region.
