WAWA—The first week of April marks the start of “Public Health Week”. Algoma Public Health informed their community that from April 4 to April 8, Canada is celebrating “public health” for the first time.
This year’s inaugural theme #PublicHealthMatters highlights the efforts of public health agencies across Canada to bring attention to critical issues that improve our overall health and well-being.
With the challenges and life changes Canadians have had to face during the pandemic, public health week will give Canadians the opportunity to highlight and focus on the hard work that all health care professionals have done and continue to do, to keep us healthy mentally and physically.
This initiative is a campaign that’s purpose is to bring together communities across Canada and recognize the contribution of public health, while at the same time highlighting issues that, so many Canadians face regarding accessing and improving health care services for all Canadians.
Government, communities and health units across the province, including Algoma Public Health, continue to inform the public about health care services available to them. They provide them with information to help everyone understand the importance of ensuring that public health is important to the overall health of all Canadians.
