Arrest made in suspicious death case

EABAMETOONG FIRST NATION – Police continue their investigation into what’s been deemed a suspicious death in Eabametoong First Nation.

According to a release issued on Tuesday night by Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, officers received a call for service in the evening hours of Monday, Sept. 1.

An adult male was transported to the community nursing station, where he was pronounced deceased.

As a result of a continued investigation, police on Tuesday arrested an adult male suspect and took him into custody, police saying charges are pending.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police say there is no known threat to public safety.

No further details are available at this time.

Police have not named the victim or the person taken into custody.
