Back to school time reminds drivers of crosswalk safety

With the start of a new school year and with in-person learning back, drivers are reminded of crosswalk safety.

TERRACE BAY: The Township of Terrace Bay took time recently to remind everyone in the community of “Crosswalk Safety”.

With back to school now upon us, the Township drivers of the importance of keeping students and residents crossing their highways and the designated crosswalks safe.

The notice shared by the Township reminded drivers including cyclist that, “They must stop and yield the entire width of the roadway (wait for pedestrians to clear the road) at: pedestrian crossovers, school crossings, and locations where there is a crossing guard.”

In addition, their notice indicated that only when pedestrians and school crossing guards have crossed and are safely on the sidewalk can drivers and cyclists proceed.
