Between 10 – 20 cm total snow and ice pellets possible in Geraldton region

Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for parts of the region with between 10 – 20 cm of snow and ice pellet accumulation beginning Thursday morning.

GERALDTON—As of Wednesday, Nov. 9, a weather advisory is in affect for Geraldton, Longlac and Caramat. Up to 20 cm of snow and ice pellets accumulation is expected with a risk of freezing rain.

Environment Canada reports that a developing low-pressure system, is expected to bring a large area of mixed precipitation to parts of northwestern and northern Ontario Thursday and continue into Friday. Precipitation is expected to switch over from rain to a mix of snow, ice pellets and possible freezing rain Thursday morning.

The participation is then expected to switch over to mainly snow Thursday evening or overnight and continue into Friday.

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
