TERRACE BAY — A town-wide boil water advisory is in effect until further notice.
The municipality on Monday announced that the advisory was put in place, and will remain until water quality results are received.
In 2021, the water treatment plant was affected by a lightning strike, which hit one of the transformers and caused equipment damage.
Since that incident, there have been multiple instances where the stand-by generator failed to start on demand, which caused a loss of pressure loss to the distribution system and required a boil water advisory to be issued, municipal officials told council at a meeting earlier this month.
Repairs are planned for this summer.
It's unknown if this current advisory is related to those issues.
