Calgary resident is facing stunt driving charges

A Calgary resident is facing charges after OPP observed the driver travelling at a high rate of speed.

NIPIGON – A 25-year-old Calgary man is facing stunt driving charges.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team were conducting RADAR patrol on Highway 11/17 west of Nipigon on Wednesday, April 27.

The officer observed a westbound motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

Police say the RADAR confirmed the vehicle speed to be in excess of 190 kilometres an hour in a 90 kilometres an hour zone.

As a result, a 25-year-old of Calgary was issued a court summons for stunt driving.

The driver received a 30-day driver's license suspension and is scheduled to appear in Nipigon court in June 2022.

The vehicle a 2019 Hyundai Elantra, was impounded for 14 days.
