MANITOUWADGE—With summer activities well under way, and many already enjoying camp fires, the Manitouwadge Fire Department wants to help keep everyone safe.
They shared some key safety tips for those who like to make camp fires or outdoor burning part of their summertime fun.
One of the first things they encourage the public to remember, is to ensure that you have a burn permit, and to check the local forest fire hazard rating to see if it is safe to have a camp fire or conduct any outdoor burning.
They also remind the public of the fact that for the township of Manitouwadge, no daytime burning is permitted between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Their main tip for the day is to ensure that you are at least eight meters away from a structure or anything that can burn. Clean away any debris found around the campfire area.
